hot hot hot

Today was an awful 42 degrees, insanely hot.

I did a photoshoot for work in the morning and then worked from home for a few hours before picking Michael up from tec. We raced down to see what progress had been done on the house today. It looks as though more plastering was completed... a bit more of the hallway, the bathrooms and cinema. Our bedroom still hasn't been done, nor has some of the front room.

Now that the doors are on we can't get in (wahhhh!)

I learned a trick from someone, peering through the lock hole on the door - and it worked a treat! We could see right into our place - here is our new fandangle front door! It still needs staining but you get the idea.

I walked outside, in the full direct sunlight for this shot. Michael whinged that he couldn't see the front door.

And here is a closeup of the front verandah area looking in. We're going to have to get used to that feeling! Oh it's killing me!!!!

I know I've said it before but we really can't wait until the external render is finished. The design should really come into its own then. Until then..

It's less than a week until our tiling meeting. Our kitchen and bathroom cupboards and benches should be in before then.... we'll see huh!

Locked up

Yessss!!! Noooooooooooooo!

What a landmark, a real 'moment'. At the same time, we can't get in anymore. That's no fun!

We peered through and noticed that no plastering was done today. Hopefully tomorrow.

Loving our front door, can't wait until the render is on and the door is stained.

Dodging lockup

Today was meant to be our official lockup day.

That didn't happen... Is it wrong to be happy about that?

After they lock our place up we won't be able to get in, won't be able to notice the attention to detail on the fittings etc or be able to feel the space and generate ideas of what we want to do with each area.

No more unwinding with a beer sitting on camping chairs in the lounge room (noooooo!). No more sitting on the lounge room floor, surrounded by magazines while working out landscaping plans (nooooo!!!). No more "rivercam" building inspector checking everything out (nooooo!!!!!!!!). Lucky we have enough windows... but will they be enough!?

Look how far we've come...

The white plaster has been started (1 of the spare rooms was done yesterday) and the plasterer was back at the crack of dawn this morning to work through some more.

Here's the front  of the house, mostly done. Oh how I love this space, its like my own wonderful light box.

The hallway from the garage looking to the front. To the far left is the laundry, the other room is a spare bedroom.
Our ensuite has had some lines marked out...  not sure why the ones are there on the left, the tiles go right up to the ceiling. But in saying that the bench is double the depth he's drawn out too...

Our shining white toilet... behold!!!
Our bright and beautiful laundry

And that's about it.... no more has been done to the external render yet - I wish they'd hurry as the sand is blocking the entire laneway which is bound to be a right pain in the *** for everyone that uses it. It's bad enough for us, and its our building site!

Hopefully I'll be able to post more plastering photos soon, I love the bright white airiness of it now - looking forward to seeing our bedroom, the bathrooms and of course the entertainment precinct (are we still calling it the cinema!?)

Watch this space, more to follow soon x

Floated!!

Our plasterer has been working hard this week, the float has been finished inside completely and it's a really good job.

Building inspector River agrees

The float started at the front of the house!

The external render has been started (ohhh YES!!!!!) we so can't wait to see more of this, particularly out the front on the pillars etc and can imagine it already.

Happy with the progress we'd seen already, we wandered inside to be presented with CEILINGS. All up, every room, the whole lot!

We ended up spending quite some time there, and dad came down for a beer which was awesome.

The recess opens the room up a lot and it's feeling bright and airy, just how we wanted (even with the dark float on the walls).

getting plastered!!!

Good news folks!!!!! The plasterers were doing their thing today!!!

They've done the bathroom, laundry, one of the bedrooms and the store room WOOHOO!!

Lets move straight onto the pics - I know they've been light on lately!!

Here is the bathroom

The laundry (looking in)

River gives the bedroom his 'swish' of approval!

Who wants to see the toilet!?? Yeah... we know you do

And here is one of the front, you can see a bit of the roof here... unfortunately the roof pics have all been pretty shoddy, the afternoon sun (and being vertically challenged) makes it really hard!!

Hopefully we'll be back to report more tomorrow... it's so great to be seeing more progress again!!

News just in....!

The builder has advised that the plasterer is starting today (very exciting after waiting a week and a half longer than expected)

Looking forward to checking it out tonight.. And will hopefully put up some photos!!

More news... We've been given a lockup date!! 23rd February YAY!!

Then it's approx 8 weeks to handover so we may be looking at end of April - early May to be in, depending of course how it all goes.

The countdown is on!!
