The end of the paper trail is getting closer!

We received our final plans and schedule from the builder last week!

After going through them with a fine tooth comb we found two things which needed fixing which wasn't too bad I guess. So given the changes required we decided to drop them into the office personally. Friday afternoon I raced away from work to pick up Michael, and rushed over to the builders' office. Only to find that it was closed. At 4.15!! The sign said they closed at 4.30pm which was pretty annoying, but hey what can you do.

Monday rolls around, take 2. After work we repeat the same process as Friday however this time when we rock up there is a sign on the builders' office door.... 'we have moved' !!??! WHAT! I'd communicated with the office during the day and it wasn't mentioned to me at all. Arghhh!

Luckily after plugging the address into our trusty iPhone we found that it was just around the corner. Nice. So we go in to sign our amendments only to find that our front door glazing was still incorrect. Lucky I checked the meaning of 'satin etched'.

The prestart lady started telling me that I'd chosen satin etched glazing. That's when I had the realisation that I know all our decisions and selections regarding our place back to front, inside out. I know every single colour, finish, material, you name it going into our house! I guess that's the bonus of wanting everything to be 'perfect' and being slightly ocd with it all.

So she offered to check and of course I took her up on it. Turns out they had made a mistake, shock horror! BUT she was brilliant about fixing it up and that is what matters to us.

After fixing it all up she prepared our amended documentation, we signed yet some more paperwork and walked out with a letter confirming that 'our file' is officially off to scheduling!! Yayyyyyy!!! Go you good thing!!!

We've been told to expect 4 weeks for scheduling and final checks etc from the builders side.

Over to our building approval...

As I wrote in a previous entry on here our plans were submitted to council in June. After speaking with the builder it was revealed that they resubmitted our plans to council on the 6th August because we added render to the remainder of the house at our prestart meeting. I was a bit annoyed that they didn't comunicate this with us, but moreso that at the meeting I asked for a sliding door to be added to our study and was talked out of it as the plans would need resubmission to council. So really we could have added it grr!! Really it's a small thing in the scheme of things but it would have been nice. We are also really hoping that it doesn't hold us up at all.

Anyway next week the shire will have had our file for 8 weeks. Which is the magic number of weeks before they would even pick up our file to put it in the assessment tray.

We've officially - almost - done our time. Oh what a feeling!
